What we do.

We believe everyone has a story to tell. This may be in the form of song, poem, a simple melody or a symphony waiting to be realised.

Our aim is to provide people with the opportunity to bring this story to life, to translate it from an idea to reality, and strengthen the relationship between people and music.

We do this primarily by facilitating workshops with groups or individuals to compose, perform, record and produce original music from the heart.

How we do it.

SoundED workshop participants are encouraged to explore their own lived experiences of their worlds, articulate it in lyric, record and produce chosen sounds into songs, and if they wish to, share it with the rest of the world. We aim to break down the myth that only special or gifted people can express themselves musically in this way. The sense of achievement and success that comes from this may then be translated to a range of other daily challenges, with the goal of enabling people to contribute back into their families, social networks, communities and work places.

Through the sharing of these songs and stories people are also better able to understand the perspectives and lived experiences of others in their community and perhaps even learn a little of themselves through the hearing of another’s journey.  As people we aim to foster the principles of connection and respect through participation in all SoundED programs.

Program Activities.

SoundED workshops are primarily about writing and recording original music and producing video clips but we do much more. Other program options include:

  • DJ skill training,
  • Basic instrument design and construction,
  • Circuit bending and electronics,
  • Podcasts and online Radio program streaming,
