Wayne founded SoundED in 2016 after over 20 years experience working in a wide variety of community based settings from personal counselling, men’s health and community development to a focus on drug and alcohol counseling with at risk young people.

From 2003 – 2016 Wayne facilitated a music program called Real 2 Reel which aimed to engage young people in out of home care and disengaged from mainstream education to write, record and produce their own songs, learn to play an instrument or DJ, make short films, run a radio program or build instruments. Real 2 Reel has also worked with countless groups in prisons, schools and community groups across Victoria including aboriginal elders, refugee groups and disengaged young people.

In 2018 Wayne and his family moved to the Northern Territory and for the next 7 years worked in many remote Indigenous communities across the Top End from West Daly up to the Tiwi Islands and across to East Arnhem. During this time Wayne also developed a weekly SoundED music recording and production program in the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre.

With a Degree in Social Work (Youth Work) and over 30 years of developing and facilitating workshops and programs across Australia and internationally, Wayne still runs on a passion for helping people explore the stories they want to tell about themselves.
